Estimating Endura Safe Needs For Playground Projects

  1.  Calculate your square footage – (Length x Width)
  2.  Determine your required fall height rating:
    • a 4″ installed depth protects up to a 9 foot fall height
    • a 6″ installed depth protects over 7 feet up to a 15 foot fall height
    • a 9″ installed depth protects over 15 foot fall height
  3. Multiply Square Feet by:
    • 9.3 for 4” of installed depth
    • 14.0 for 6″ of installed depth
    • 21.0 for 9″ of installed depth
  4. Divide that number by 2000 to determine how many tons of material you will need.

Example: A 20’x20′ area that needs 4″ of material would be calculated as follows:

20′ x 20′ = 400 Square Feet
400 Square Feet x 9.3 = 3,720 lbs
3,720 lbs+ 2000 = 1.86 Tons of material needed, which is equivalent to 106 Retail Bags, or 2 Super Sacks

Example: A 20′ x 20′ area that needs 6″ of material would be calculated as follows:

20′ x 20′ = 400 square feet
400 Square Feet x 14 = 5,600 lbs.
5,600 lbs.+ 2000 = 2.8 tons, which is equivalent to 160 Retail Bags, or 3 Super Sacks
